April 20 - Kangaroo Island

After a short 30 minute flight south from Adelaide, we arrived on Kangaroo Island for the next leg of our journey. The group had been split in two so we bumped into the other half of the group returning and got a taste of how much they enjoyed the Island. Indicators were that this would be a spectacular couple of days. Immediately we set off for Seal Cove, a beach full of sealions, well protected from sharks and killer whales by a shallow reef just offshore. It was a nice spot, cool and breezy but we got to see the sealions in their natural environment, basically lazing around.

After this brief stop we set off of the hotel - The Southern Ocean Lodge.

Well, what can I say. This hotel is SPECTACULAR! Probably one of the best places we have ever stayed at. Perched on a cliff overlooking the Southern Ocean, every room has a great view. The lobby are has a complete panorama.

Great food, great wine. The rooms are completely private so the shower opens to a view of the ocean. You could spend a week here doing nothing but relaxing in the Lodge.

We had lunch, unpacked, napped, did a wine tasting, had dinner, crashed, looking forward to exploring the Island the next day.
