This post should really be called “watch out for the Chameleons”. This will become clear later. The national park is an area of tropical rain forest with nice trails. We were with a couple of guides who showed us around and found many interesting creatures. Because we went early, we had the entire park to ourselves.

We were on the lookout for Lemurs which were supposed to be the highlight of this visit. The good news is we saw a few. The bad news is that they were far up in the forest canopy, quite shy and hard to photograph. This is the best shot I got.
However, there were no shortage of other wildlife lower down, especially Chameleons. They’re slow and gentle and don’t mind being handled. They range from large (2ft long) to absolutely tiny. I found them fascinating.
There were also some nice waterfalls.
So, while this was all a nice early morning hike, the consensus on the wildlife was disappointment. Given that we had travelled for an entire day to get to this part of Madagascar, we expected more.
