Chris Rainier, a National geographic Fellow, is one of the leading documentary photographers working today. His life’s mission is to put on film the remaining natural wilderness and indigenous cultures around the globe and to use images to create social change. His work has been widely published, exhibited and he has won numerous awards. Carol and I have had the pleasure of traveling with Chris on three National Geographic Expeditions and have admired his cultural knowledge, his photographic artistry as well as come to value him as a good friend. In December of 2015 I received an e-mail from Chris where he described leading a photographic expedition to Oman and The United Arab Emirates, sponsored by National Geographic and limited to a small group of 16 people. Within a few minutes of receiving the e-mail we had signed up. Just as well since it was almost already booked! The trip is from November 4 -13 and can be best described as the ultimate desert road-trip from the most ancient to the most modern.
