OK, panic is setting in. This is the time to figure out what to take on a journey that covers 17 times zones, temperatures that range from 33 DegF to 93 DegF, monthly rainfall from 0 to 8 inches and altitudes from (20 feet below) sea level to over 10,000 feet. Not to mention the need to get medications for altitude sickness and malaria prevention as well as every over-the-counter remedy for anything bad that can slow you down. And, of course, the vacinations for hepitius, tetanus, typhoid and yellow fever. The latter equires a certificate without which you can't get into Africa. Other than that it's all very simple - stuff three weeks worth of clothes into 1 or 2 small cases and a backpack. Right now, clothes and accessories are lying around everywhere in the house ready to be packed or discarded, probably by necessity.
On the photography front, I need equipment to not only take (several thousand) nice pictures but to back them up so I don't lose them. I'll be taking at least 12 memory cards, 6 batteries and a TeraByte of backup storage! Plus my laptop. I'll keep you up to date on how the packing is going.
