After a day of R&R, we set off again, this time to Laos. It was a bit of a complicated journey. First leg was from Palau to Vientiane, Laos where we cleared immigration. Then we got on another plane to go to Luang Prabang, our final destination. After checking in to our hotel, we set off on some sightseeing.

Luang Prabang is a small city, right on the banks of the Meekong river. It's surprisingly quiet and serene with only a few "rough guide" back-packers. It used to be the capital of Laos and so is steeped in history - plenty of temples and monks wandering around. This is a Budhist country, big time. More on Monks and Bhudism later.
In the evening, we had a group dinner with some local entertainment.

This picture was taken 5 minutes before there was spectaular lightening and terrential rainfall. So we all rushed back to our rooms. I guess we're in the tropics!
