Tonight was our last night in Sri Lanka and the locals were determined to give us a good time. We were given the pleasure of a spectacular show and dinner. All night it threatened to rain but the most we got was a few showers and an amazing back drop of lightning. Quite an evening, even by National Geographic standards.
And, when it did start to rain, they all rushed out with umbrellas!
I forgot to mention that the Sri Lankan food is fantastic. It’s similar to Indian but hotter - with peppers, not spices. I ate the stuff for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It took a few dozes of Pepto Bismol but I made it through unscathed.
Overall we loved Sri Lanka and would encourage everyone to go there. The history is fascinating, the sights are spectacular and the people are incredibly friendly. They say January - February is the best time.
Tomorrow, on to Madagascar.
