April 7 Underwater Galapagos

Monday April 7. Overnight we sailed to Bartolome Island.  I woke up in the middle of the night with the ship rolling around. Clearly there’s bit of a swell despite the calm of the ocean! I had my first experience of taking a shower while the ship was negotiating the rough waters. It takes a bit of getting used to! Anyway good use of our patch behind the ear since no ill effects so far.

This was the day to get going on snorkeling (and Kayaking for those who wanted it). We were deposited on a beautiful sandy beach and let lose on the unsuspecting marine life. I have a new underwater camera but, with a combination of murky, snady water and pilot error, I didn’t get many good shots. Never mind, plenty of more chances this week.

Right now, after lunch, we set sail for Rabida Island and have just dropped anchor. Some folks went off kayaking, other are doing more snorkeling. I’m wriring this blog. But, in a few minutes we’ll be going to the island for some hiking and more wildlife.

Stay tuned.
