Sunday, April 6. It was exciting to arrive at Baltra airport on the Galapagos Islands. We we immeditely whisked off by bus to our boat - The National Geograpgic Islander. It was anchored in a sheltered cove so we were piled onto Zodiacs for the short trip to our home for the next week.

After settling in we had lunch and then set off for our first exposure to the wildlife of Galapagos - on North Seymor Island. This is the point where you realize they weren’t kidding. There really is extraordinary wildlife and completely unafraid of us humans. It was startling and thrilling. Here’s a few examples, all seen in about a 1 hour walk.
Land Iguana

Frigate bird, showing off

Carol’s Favorite - Blue Footed Boobies, with egg.

You could get just about as close as you wanted. They almost seemed to like the attention.

And, of course, friendly Sea Lions (friendly with themselves)

If this what we got on the first day of arrival, I’m looking forward to what’s next!
