April 9 Urbina Bay

Wednesday, April 9. After the excitement of the Dolphins, we did our “wet” landing at Urbina Bay and with water shoes full of sand, set off with about six other explorers on a hike inland.

No sooner had we set off when a new friend came ambling down the pathway.

Our first giant Tortoise encounter! He/she turned out to be quite friendly and posed for photographs from every angle imaginable.

Then we went on our way. We saw another Tortoise on our journey but the were fast asleep under the shade of a tree.

We wandered through the undergrowth and our next encounter was a land Iguana. We had seen them on the first day so this was not such a big deal. But many photos were taken, just because we could.

All the time, the Iguana completely ignored us. I think we could have been even closer without it caring one bit.

After a couple of miles of hiking we ended up back on the beach at Urbina Bay where there were even more thrill in store.
