Wednesday, April 9. As we waited for our zodiac to pick us up we met one of the few predators on the Islands - the Galapagos Hawk. He had found a perch to rest which seemed particularly appropriate. like he was guarding the beach.

But the main event was a show put on by a (hungry) and talented Pellican who was hanging around on our arrival delighting swimmers in the bay.
First the Pelican would take off.

Then he would do 1 or 2 circuits around the bay. Upon sighting a suitable fish snack, he would enter a graceful dive.

And, with precision accuracy, shoot into the water and catch his prey, much to the delight of the swimmers who, in my opinion where in danger of being skewered themselves.

This would been fine to watch once or twice but in about 15 minutes this Pelican had done it’s circuit and successfully caught a fish 6-8 times. It was like shooting fish in a barrel!
