I have been doing a number of tests, on the D800E, to determine the micro focus settings for various lenses. I have used both FocusTune and FoCal software for these tests. The results are presented below.
All tests were performed at a distance of approx. 50X Focal Length.

Based on these results, I picked -10 as a compromise MFA

Based on these (variable) results, I picked -17 - not happy, may test again (maybe -10 is the better compromise?)

I also did the test on my 70-200mm f/2.8 @ f/2.8 using FocusTune
