Snapbridge

Snapbridge is Nikon's answer to wirelss transfer and control of their cameras. Only certain cameras support Snapbridge. Fortunately they include the D850 and the D500. Unfortunately, the D810 does not support Snapbridge (no Bluetooth).

Snapbridge has a bad reputation. Really bad. From what I can tell, this is mostly around the features that require connectivity to WiFi which is buggy and unreliable. The Bluetooth features seem more stable (I think).

My needs for Snapbridge are relatively simple and require only the Bluetooth connection:

1. Auto transfer images from the camera to my iOS device (ipad or iPhone) and import to the camera roll in Photos. With this capability I can quickly preview images, on location, on a larger screen (iPad)

2. Auto tag my (RAW) images in the camera with GPS location data, transferred from the iOS device (Can't do this on the iPad without wifi - maybe my next iPad should have cellular)

3. Synchronize the clock in the camera from the iOS device.

Setup:

1. You need to pair the camera with Snapbridge on the designated iOS device. While I believe you can choose from different cameras, if you want to change the iOS device you are paired with, you need to "forget" the camera on the previous device - needs more testing

2.
